The Ego and The False Self
Many times the ego and the false are lumped together as one thing, the individual identity. The ego is part of the false self, but the false self is not the egoic mind.
The egoic or logical mind is necessary to perceive & accumulate data which then gives rise to desire. It is a creation of consciousness, designed for the important task of experiencing creation and providing feedback. It only becomes a hindrance to conscious thought when it becomes trapped within this mental construct called identity or false self.
The false self is like a residue or coating of experiences, thoughts, and beliefs which accumulates layer upon layer over the true self & logical mind.
